Uljara Lučka has achieved extraordinary success by winning the title of absolute winner at the national olive oil quality competition. With an impressive 99 points, Uljara Lučka surpassed all other Montenegrin oil mills and olive oil producers from coastal municipalities, positioning itself among the world’s top producers of extra virgin olive oil.
The national competition in olive oil quality was organized by the “House of Olives” (“Kuća Maslina”), under the auspices of the Municipality of Bar and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of Montenegro, as part of the 2250th birthday celebration of the Old Olive Tree in Mirovica and the anniversary of the House of Olives’ founding.
This success is particularly significant for the central region of Montenegro, proving that premium olive oils can be produced even in the continental part of the country.
In addition to the national competition victory, Uljara Lučka has also won numerous awards at regional events, including a plaque for outstanding oil quality and a gold medal at the 91st International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, as well as a gold medal at Noćnjak in the Republic of Croatia, held in March this year, competing against 450 olive oils from across the region. At the world competition in Athens, the capital of Greece, Uljara Lučka won a bronze medal for top quality and a high level of polyphenols in their olive oil.
The Hadži family has been engaged in olive cultivation for two decades. In the beginning, our only goal was to learn every detail about the beautiful trees growing on our family estate and to produce extra virgin olive oil that would bring joy to our entire family. However, over time, we realized that we could and must do more, so we officially created the Lučka brand in 2022 by establishing the company “Lučka Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil” d.o.o.
The first products were launched in the market in 2023. We founded the olive processing plant with the support of the European Union through the IPARD program, which enabled us to build a modern facility that meets all standards and to install the most advanced equipment for processing, packaging, and storage of extra virgin olive oil.
LuÄŤka is also the first regional olive mill in the continental part of Montenegro. We knew that enthusiasm and love alone were not enough; we needed continuous education and advancement. Along with daily work in the olive grove, we visited all major olive-growing fairs in the region, where we began achieving great successes.
We have received many awards, recognitions, and several medals for the quality of our products. As we are currently in the process of certification for organic production, which involves continuous monitoring and maintenance on a natural basis without the use of pesticides, this further complicates our work but represents a challenge we are determined to overcome to obtain a healthy and organic product. Today, this oil mill is one of the fastest-growing in Montenegro.
The company’s olive groves stretch at the foothills of Dečić hill in Tuzi, between the canyons of the Cijevna and Rujela rivers. Through dedicated teamwork and a clear vision, more than 65,000 tons of olives were processed in 2024, and the production of premium extra virgin olive oil was increased to 12,500 bottles.
